I grew up in Brooklyn, NY where my aesthetic was formed by the streets as they appeared to me at a tender age. The urban landscape was rough, hard, unyielding, wondrous, full of adventure and not without moments of human and natural beauty. Many years later, these early influences germinated in the rich soil of the modern formalist tradition as it was handed down through the New York School of painters.

Today, abstraction and figuration co-exist in my work through a process that is at once rigorous and free. Intentionally improvisational, the resulting images reveal hidden relationships interwoven throughout.

I received my B.A. from Yale University and my MFA from the New York Studio School of Drawing, Painting & Sculpture. My work has been exhibited at La Vigie Art Contemporain in France, at Parker's Box in Brooklyn and at The Painting Center in NYC, and has been reviewed in The Hudson Review, The New Criterion, American Artist and Concept magazine. 

I live and work now on the outskirts of Bethlehem, PA on a patch of grass that opens to the sky.
